History retold breaks Boden as the weight of its violence rocks his and the others’ sheltered lives. Now, they fight to return to the Lucy with the hope of home. With Liana missing, the residents of Brise Soleil evacuate, leaving Ramulus and Kyla intent on finding her. At the Well, Marlowe awaits Sam as questions mount about Finley and her creative abilities.
How do we know we want to mess up? What about defiance and reliance? Those people followed blindly. Yeah, but then dominance! The great earthquake that killed so many because of Roy! But he changed, Bo. Yeah. Too late. Our own grandfather, Reed, refused to follow truth. Then we should be thankful. For what? That dad does. What about salvation? Just another plan to destroy people. And our other grandfather helped.
SPEAKER_02According to mom, he changed too.
SPEAKER_11A little late.
SPEAKER_02Regret is a heavyweight burden. A burden we all bear.
SPEAKER_11Not you.
SPEAKER_02You're a robot. A robot with years of mistakes loaded into my memory.
SPEAKER_11So what now? People keep finding ways to hurt each other and inventing things to do it. I mean, look around. Someone had to make this and imagine this. A craftsman and a creative. Who's next? It won't be you. How can you be so sure?
SPEAKER_00Because we know you, Bao. You know the truth. And you believe the truth. Hard to screw up a machine when the wires are going in the right direction. Just look at Bucket. And compare him to the sovies who gave up hours ago trying to reassemble our wires. Bowden, this place is a monument.
SPEAKER_02Not only to those who died here, but also as a reminder that without the restraint of the truth, abominations are possible. Agnes.
SPEAKER_11Can we get back into the beyond? Don't let me forget this place. I won't. Come here. Love you.
SPEAKER_02Well, gentlemen, it's been ten hours since we've last had a sound. Shall we risk it? Let's do it. We'll race to the river and board your ship. Assuming it's still in one piece.
SPEAKER_12Now you're gonna make me cry.
SPEAKER_11Ready? Let's do this.
SPEAKER_04I can help Ramulus!
SPEAKER_09I believe you, Lily, but we'll take care of it.
SPEAKER_04Oh, don't die, Ramulus!
SPEAKER_09I I appreciate that, Ruth. Thank you. That's sweet.
SPEAKER_04Can I have a hug, Ram? Ooh, me too. And me!
SPEAKER_09Let's just do a big one all together.
SPEAKER_10Okay, great. Now, uh, there's your cable car. Your parents are already on the other side of the river.
SPEAKER_04We have to wait for our bags.
SPEAKER_10No, no. Someone will bring them to you.
SPEAKER_04I think we should wait.
SPEAKER_10I'll bring them.
SPEAKER_04We'll wait. We don't want you to be alone!
SPEAKER_10Look, is that the beast?
SPEAKER_03You should be ashamed of yourself.
SPEAKER_10Tyla! What are you doing out of bed?
SPEAKER_03I don't take naps.
SPEAKER_10You're kind of gruff for a peacemaker.
SPEAKER_03Ow.
SPEAKER_10Punchy. But slow?
SPEAKER_03Maybe not. How's the evacuation going?
SPEAKER_10Slow.
SPEAKER_03Any word on Liana?
SPEAKER_10No, no one's seeing her or Elsie. And there's no one searching right now because everyone's leaving, except for a handful of the council.
SPEAKER_03Where is that girl?
SPEAKER_10I know she's safe. She's tough, Kai.
SPEAKER_03Tougher than both of us. Okay, how can I help?
SPEAKER_10Go lie down and get your strength back. I'm going on another search tonight, don't worry.
SPEAKER_03By yourself?
SPEAKER_10I think I can handle the jungle. What's the word on Banyan Place? They're all checked in and ready to go. Status on the bridges?
SPEAKER_03All clear.
SPEAKER_10How would you know?
SPEAKER_03You weren't my first stop. I've been searching too.
SPEAKER_10You heard her. They're all yours. Move them out.
SPEAKER_01Groups one through three. Make your way to the bridges. Remember, all goods are bags over 10 pounds.
SPEAKER_12She's gonna look more beautiful!
SPEAKER_00Let's go, Bucket!
SPEAKER_02I spent centuries preserving that history, hoping one day humanity would return for it. And in one day, it's destroyed.
SPEAKER_11I guess you're the history now.
SPEAKER_02I think we're clear. Then it's time.
SPEAKER_00Stop lagling that!
SPEAKER_11What got the helm? I've got the helm, Psy. You get the engine Mrs.
SPEAKER_06Goodwin. Yes, Finley. Can you play another song? I'm having trouble sleeping. Something happy like these smilings?
SPEAKER_05Of course. I see you went picking flowers today.
SPEAKER_06Do you think Sam will be mad?
SPEAKER_05Mad at you? With those dimples? Unlikely.
SPEAKER_06I like the lights. They're hypnotic, aren't they? What?
SPEAKER_05You can't look away.
SPEAKER_06They remind me of my dreams.
SPEAKER_05I wish my dreams were as colorful as those flowers. They can be. Well, but we can't determine our dreams.
SPEAKER_06It works for me. That's why I place the smilings around my bed. Oh, I'm going to have a great dream tonight.
SPEAKER_05Well then, may I borrow a few from my room?
SPEAKER_06Yes, please. That makes me happy.
SPEAKER_05Do you like it here at the well? Yes. I do too.
SPEAKER_06But don't you miss your home? Sometimes. Thanks for playing your cello. Maybe you can teach me?
SPEAKER_05How about tomorrow by the falls?
SPEAKER_06Oh. I'm not supposed to go there.
SPEAKER_05Well, I don't think a trip to the falls is going to hurt you. After all, Elion created them. We'll do it before your father gets up. What do you say?
SPEAKER_06Deal.
SPEAKER_12Let's shake. We're ready! Pulling away!
SPEAKER_00And we're off! No more waste bands! No more death machines. And no more.
SPEAKER_02Oh no. Please, please don't tell me one of you still has that user port coin. Vote in?
SPEAKER_11I left it in that room where we got the weapons. You saw me put it on the desk.
SPEAKER_00Don't look at me! Sai?
SPEAKER_12Sai?
SPEAKER_02Well, I have the kind for safekeeping and all. You should have left it alone. It was designed to sync with the sovereign network. Its homing protocol will give every Soviet within 15 miles our location. But as long as we're on the ship in the river, they can't get wet, right?
SPEAKER_12Yes, but the bridges! What? Don't you remember the bridges that we crossed under on the way here? Sai, we've got to lose the coin. Now we were promised to be well compensated for this venture. But this coin is all we have to show for it. What about bucket? We've got a new friend. Lose the coin, cousin. Look, on the shore, the machines! They're following us to those bridges up ahead.
SPEAKER_02Sovereign's critical thinking is not as fragmented as I thought. We can't survive a swim, but maybe a fall. I expect a whole swarm of machines to smother us from above as we pass under the bridges ahead. What if we port? We can zoom past them.
SPEAKER_12Sai? It's such a little homeless thing, isn't it? Sai! I'm all rolling already!
SPEAKER_02And now we have a chance. Loading your ideas not half-back. We approach at normal speed, then accelerate just before the bridge. If I steer the ship, can you fore clear anything that drops out of the sky? I'm ready. Captain Sky on my mark.
SPEAKER_11I can see them. There's hundreds of them.
SPEAKER_02There are some machines that can look so angry. Ready your weapons. Now we fight. Well we die. Let's do it.
SPEAKER_07Almost Almost.
SPEAKER_11Get off.
SPEAKER_12Crikey. I forgot my gun. Sorry, lad. I always forget about that gun under my seat. For emergencies, in case things all go to smoke, you know.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I can't feel my thing.
SPEAKER_12Always forget about that gun.
SPEAKER_11You okay there, Maggie? Your left cheek looks deep fried.
SPEAKER_12Reggie, would you mind dumping all these scrap metal of a board?
SPEAKER_02Pleasure.
unknownHold it!
SPEAKER_02I'm missing an arm! No one starts dumping until we find my left arm. Wait a minute.
SPEAKER_11Without the coin, how are we gonna find our way back to the wall of water?
SPEAKER_00We're lost! I wouldn't say that. Don't forget this little guy. You're compass. Yeah, I told you it would come in handy. I made notes along the way. I think I could find our way back home, James.
SPEAKER_11Lead the way, Reggie.
SPEAKER_03What are you doing here?
SPEAKER_10I could ask you the same question.
SPEAKER_03I thought you didn't know where this place was.
SPEAKER_10When Liana was little, she liked to fall off the map every once in a while. We humored her and pretended not to know. I'm just trying to see if she had another secret idle that I don't know about.
SPEAKER_03That was such a luck, I'm guessing.
SPEAKER_10But I did learn something.
SPEAKER_03Really? What?
SPEAKER_04So let me ask you something. If you had all your dreams come true, what would they look like? Liana would a ramp be in them? Honestly? Yes.
SPEAKER_03It doesn't sound like me.
SPEAKER_10You're right.
SPEAKER_03What does that mean?
SPEAKER_10What do you mean?
SPEAKER_03What are you surprised about?
SPEAKER_10I've just never heard you talk about dreams.
SPEAKER_03So I can't have feelings? Now you're laughing at me?
SPEAKER_10I've just never heard you talk about your dreams before.
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_10You're always so dedicated to your work. I wondered if you even had them.
SPEAKER_03Of course I had.
SPEAKER_10Or if there was even room in your life for another person. Well, I I mean Because I have dreams too.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_10And you're in them.
SPEAKER_03Ram. I don't know what to say.
SPEAKER_10You don't have to say anything.
SPEAKER_03If I don't, you'll think I'm cold or unemotional, and I I that I don't feel the same way about you that you do about me, and then after all of this craziness is over and we go back to our lives, we'll be stuck with this really awkward moment in time. Well, if I'm rambling, it's because I have a good reason to ramble.
SPEAKER_10I didn't mean to make you upset.
SPEAKER_03I sound upset. No, I'm not upset. It's just that I don't want to go back to the What are you saying? My dad asked me to think about what I really wanted in life.
SPEAKER_10I just I'm sorry, Kai. We don't have to talk about it.
SPEAKER_03If you don't shut up, I'll banish you.
SPEAKER_10You definitely take after your dad.
SPEAKER_03True. But every once in a while he's right.
SPEAKER_10What do you mean?
SPEAKER_03When you love someone, you can't do life alone. I know. It's the worst time to be talking about this. Your sister's still out there in this beast and you're in charge.
SPEAKER_10I don't want to do life alone either.
SPEAKER_03What?
SPEAKER_10You heard me.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_10So this?
SPEAKER_03I've been hoping you do that for a long time.
SPEAKER_10Glad you never banished me. So what will happen if I continue to play with me? Any more deep thoughts from Miss Brandon?
SPEAKER_03Did not hit that button.
SPEAKER_10Oops.
SPEAKER_04My fingers like Was that Elsie? How did she get out? She never goes out in the rain. What was that? I've heard that before. Do you think? Elsie, let's go!
SPEAKER_10Wait a minute. That was the beast?
SPEAKER_03Yes. What's wrong?
SPEAKER_10I was working in the lab the other night and I heard that sound come from Protest's office. Something he was listening to.
SPEAKER_03Well, maybe someone recorded something when it was loose in the jungle.
SPEAKER_10Then why? When I knocked on his door, did he not share the information with me?
SPEAKER_03You think he's more involved?
SPEAKER_10What do you think?
SPEAKER_03He has a history of lying.
SPEAKER_10I think we need to pay the beetle a visit.
SPEAKER_08Ready to take off, Sam? More than ready. Sam? Yes, Arcus. Is anything wrong? You seem worried? Yes, I think I'm in a constant state of worry. How long until we arrive at the well? Oh, a few hours. Should be a smooth, quiet ride. It's just us. Good. I like quiet. Ellion, I hope I'm not too late.
