Knock knock. You busy, Quill?
SPEAKER_10Nah, just thinking. Come on in.
SPEAKER_08Just thought you'd like to know that the survivors from Assurance are finally settled.
SPEAKER_10That's good. And how do the poppies feel about hosting guests?
SPEAKER_08Not bad, actually. I'm kinda proud of them. Of course, anyone who did have an issue before is already long gone with a guide, so. Is that Briar's little buzzsaw she gave you?
SPEAKER_10Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Romantic. But from her, that is.
SPEAKER_10I take it. Still no news of Briar.
SPEAKER_08I asked everyone I could.
SPEAKER_10Willow. What was it like?
SPEAKER_08What was what like?
SPEAKER_10When you knew your poppy wasn't coming back.
SPEAKER_08That's hardly the same thing.
SPEAKER_10I'm not saying it is. I just Well, you haven't talked about it much since then, and it's not the same.
SPEAKER_08He was kind, funny, even a bit of courageous. Maybe not what you call resilient. But Briar? That girl's tough as oak. Sure, all the trained folk are, but even still, she's something real special. I know that. Then you should know this too. If anyone's proven they've got the grit, the smarts, the sheer will to stay alive, it's her. I'm not ready to give up on her. And I know you aren't either.
SPEAKER_10And how did you get so insightful all of a sudden?
SPEAKER_08Ha! Hardly all of a sudden. Elion spent a lot of time with me after Poppy. He helped me with a lot of stuff. I never could have done what I'm doing without his well guidance. Seems to me like you were made for this. Who knows? Maybe I was. Just as I know Briar was made to be a survivor. And to be with you. Count on it.
SPEAKER_10Thanks, Willow. Really, thank you. If these last six months taught me anything, it's about how little the minister really knows after all. I'm not much better than a poppy.
SPEAKER_08Then maybe you can try to understand them better and not be too hard on them.
SPEAKER_10I think that's long overdue. I've given the mystified too hard a time. And I am sorry.
SPEAKER_08Apology conditionally accepted.
SPEAKER_10What?
SPEAKER_08I don't think I'm the one or ones you need to apologize to.
SPEAKER_10Ah.
SPEAKER_07Welcome to Pablo's coffee shop. Uh thanks.
SPEAKER_11Where are you?
SPEAKER_07Over here.
SPEAKER_11Glad you got back down here safely.
SPEAKER_07There are closer spots to meet, you know.
SPEAKER_11Aye, well, you see, I always stop here after a drop. And Pablo's especially So what'll it be? Uh just coffee for me. Black.
SPEAKER_07Uh-huh. And you, sweetie? Uh, you wouldn't have a what did he call it? An electrode twist? I know it's an old rich. One black, one e-twist!
SPEAKER_11As I was saying, Pablo's a friend. He likes to hire people who need a hand up or who seem like they're interested in the truth. He's the one who directs so many of our refugees our way. He's one of a surprising many down here in the why are the lights all flickering like that?
SPEAKER_07Old bolts, perhaps?
SPEAKER_11They can't be that old.
SPEAKER_07All right, let's the lights! The city's lost power! Even the outer cavern lights are out!
SPEAKER_11No, everyone, calm down. There should be emergency generators kicking in. See?
SPEAKER_07But they're very glowing outside. How are we supposed to do anything with almost no light? Camden. Outside. Those aren't the lights. Oh my.
SPEAKER_11Change your plans, Les.
SPEAKER_08Hello again, my brothers and sisters. Today's discussion is going to be a little different, and will be guided by someone you already know. He's taught me so much about the Book of Guidance. I don't think you'll find anyone who knows more, other than Elion himself. And he's one of my best friends. Quill, will you come up?
SPEAKER_10Thank you, Willow. Well, uh, hey, poppies. I. Okay, look. You all and I really got off on the wrong foot. And a lot of that is my fault. Willow says that I know a lot about Elion, but being with you has taught me a lot about his most important message. Truth. So today's lesson is one of the truths I've learned while being with you. Whatever your name is, each one of you is still a unique individual. I've got the backup I need for that wild statement right here. Just as when you create something unique and new, you are also a unique and new creation. From now on, that's how I see you. And that's how you should see each other too. Uh yes, you with the raised hand.
SPEAKER_05You said each one of us is a unique creation. Well, I think I remember Sister Willow here saying once that when we create something with mist, we get to give it a unique name too. Am I right?
SPEAKER_10Yes, exactly.
SPEAKER_05Well, then why don't we have unique names?
SPEAKER_10That is a very good question. And the answer? Simply because you haven't chosen one yet. Anytime you want your own unique name, you can get one. So how do you make a name?
SPEAKER_05Do you need mist?
SPEAKER_10Not at all. Look at Willow here. She found a name that she thought represented her and chose it. So think of something that represents you. Or something that you really, really love.
SPEAKER_05Well, I know it's similar to Poppy's, but I've always loved to roll in Daisies.
SPEAKER_10Daisy. What do you think, Willow?
SPEAKER_08Daisy is a perfect name.
SPEAKER_10Oh, me next! Me next! Alright, you go ahead. What do you like? Dirt. Dirt? Yep. Dirt. Uh feel free to jump in anytime. You open the bloom, you smell it. Well, some words aren't name words, if you get me. For most people, dirt doesn't mean anything special, even if you think it is, and you want your name to tell something special.
SPEAKER_08Uh what job in camp do you really enjoy doing?
SPEAKER_09Well, I like making things from leather and tanning animal hides. That's it! Tanner! How does that sound? I like that. Though I'll keep dirt as a backup, just in case. Sure.
SPEAKER_10Now do you see everyone? Think of something that tells of your uniqueness. But I still can't think of anything. Look to nature then. Let's start with trees, like Willow did. You have oaks which are strong, birch that's used to heal.
SPEAKER_01What about something you can carve, like spruce?
SPEAKER_10No. I think that name's been called for a lot. How would pine do?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, I like that.
SPEAKER_10Willow? You alright?
SPEAKER_08Quill, you don't even know what this means to me. They finally get what I wanted for so long. You helped them find themselves. You helped free them, Quill.
SPEAKER_10Well, thanks to them, I know myself a little better too. That apology acceptance still conditional? Not at all, Quill. Not at all.
SPEAKER_06Camden Briar, thank guidance you're safe. Do you have any idea what's going on? We felt the explosion and the power's still weak.
SPEAKER_07We were hoping you'd know something.
SPEAKER_11Briar and I were at Pablo's trying to meet a delivery station connection. A fire near there on the west side is all we could make out.
SPEAKER_04Briar, sage, in here and close the door.
SPEAKER_06That's my signal. Who let you? Trust me, she knows what she's doing.
SPEAKER_04Running a huge operation like the guild. If you want to get the truth out of the matter, you've got to hear it for yourself. I'm trying to pick up any radio chatter like I used to, so we can maybe figure out what happened.
SPEAKER_06Brimstone! I repeat, confirmed brimstone! Help us! Requesting immediate Brimstone?
SPEAKER_07Is that what he was saying? Ada, you look pale. No, this can't What's wrong? What's Brimstone?
SPEAKER_04Brimstone is when the city was nearly complete. I realized the foreman hadn't drawn up any emergency response plans should the worst happen. So I had disaster scenarios drafted along with emergency responses. And each disaster had a name. One was Brimstone. Which means catastrophic generator failure, with fire in the power or relay stations. The foreman should have radio contact with all site supervisors. If he hasn't changed the executive channel since I've left.
SPEAKER_02From here it would seem we still have some power. Absolutely sure. I'm just next to the station, sir. There's no denying it. This is Brimstone. Now let's not jump to conclusions. From here it would seem we still have some power. Sir, both Bolsami generators are down. One of them combusted, causing the fire, and the other shut down and is out of reach. All four Terra C's are operating at maximum. But that's given it is only 40% capacity. We need to evacuate. Don't be ridiculous.
SPEAKER_03This is our home now. We can't go scurrying up to the surface over every little mishap. And besides, we cannot draw the Terra Union away from the work site. But but the contingency for I am solely aware of procedure as I am our emergency team's devotion. I look forward to hearing your progress next time you report. But sir Best of luck, Supervisor.
SPEAKER_04It's like he doesn't even care.
SPEAKER_11Here's the thought. Perhaps it's because he doesn't. Easy, Cam.
SPEAKER_04No, that's the plan. When Brimstone is confirmed, Terra Union receives an evacuation order that lasts until the fire is contained and power is restored minimally to 75%.
SPEAKER_07Who cares about the daft power when there's a fire underground?
SPEAKER_04But that's just it. Even if only a fraction of the city is burning, brimstone means the power supply is compromised. The same power that keeps the ventilation on and filters out our air.
SPEAKER_07Which means the entire city would fill with smoke.
SPEAKER_05Your turn, Sister Willow. What names did you go through before choosing? Oh yes, tell us.
SPEAKER_10Oh no, no, you don't. Sure, yes, we do. It's only fair.
SPEAKER_05Tell the less tell us, tell us!
SPEAKER_08Okay, fine, just not the chanting. So I thought about it for almost a year, and I came down to four names I liked best. Willow, obviously. Brooke, Sky, and uh Yes. Piglet? Hey baby, pigs are cute. Do you want it to be called Piglet? I'd rather roll in dirt than be dirt.
SPEAKER_10Oh, that's good. Wonder who's playing. Miss in the Valley. Elion song. Someone's playing it and pretty good too. I don't hear anything. And that light there. It's shining through camp where the music's coming from. Have you eaten today? No, no, it's right. Grandma Vi. Picasso's light. Willow, come on. Hey! Sister Willow! Where is he? We need to get to that light! But what? Fine!
SPEAKER_00Attention! Attention! Please stand by for a message from the foreman.
SPEAKER_03Good people of Salvation. By now you may be aware of a small fire in the utilities district, which occurred earlier today. It is my pleasure to tell you that Salvation's finest has seen to the blaze and extinguished it. The smoke you are seeing now is nothing more than the smoldering remains of a past crisis. You are safe. However, I do not wish to keep you in the dark, my friends. The fire has caused a temporary setback in our power supply. As long as the remains smolder into smoke, our priority is maintaining a steady supply of clean air. Therefore, effective immediately, all power to civilian systems, including lights, will be switched off when the power levels compromise our ventilation. There may be periods of light, but dark times are truly ahead. But don't worry. Not even the darkness can stop the spirit of the future that is salvation. I have received evidence that agents of assurance are operating within our city. And they are responsible for the fire. Guild Security will be hard at work tracking down these saboteurs. So for your safety, I am instituting a mandatory curfew. Anyone found anywhere other than their homes will be arrested and charged with sabotage. But take heart. The light will return. And we will prevail. So until then, remember, this is your city. This your salvation.
SPEAKER_08Alright, so we're outside camp. Still seeing your magic singing light?
SPEAKER_10Yes. Yes, it's there. It's now near the base of the third peak. See? It's glowing like a star, but beneath the horizon. Could it be someone's fire? Oh, it's someone, but it's no fire. Elyon. My grandmother's first encounter with him was when she found her mentor listening to a song whilst looking at a starry light on the peak. It's the same song we played at the Day of Guidance, the same song I heard just now. So what does it mean? I have to follow it. This light's not on the peak, but it's up Quill! I don't think it's Elion. No, it is! I'm sure of it. Do you know the place where the light is resting? It looks listen to me. You can't go there. Why not?
SPEAKER_08Willow, what is that place? It's the Vale. And if you go, you won't be coming back.
